Preparation the Evening Before
The evening before, mix the oats with three times the amount of milk in a bowl. Cover it and place it in the refrigerator overnight. This allows the flakes to swell, become wonderfully soft, and absorb almost all the liquid.
Preparation in the Morning
Quarter and core the apples, then coarsely grate them with their skin directly into a bowl. Immediately drizzle the grated apples with fresh lemon juice to prevent them from browning. Season with honey depending on the sweetness of the apples.
Now stir the soaked oats, along with the remaining milk and natural yogurt, into the apple mixture. Mix everything well.
Chef's tip
For an extra creamy version, you can replace the natural yogurt with Greek yogurt or a splash of whipped cream. If you prefer it fruitier, you can soak the flakes in apple or orange juice instead of milk.
