Ingredients

  • 500 g wheat flour type 700 all-purpose
  • 42 g fresh yeast (1 cube)
  • 250 ml milk
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 egg
  • 80 g butter (soft)
  • 1 pkg. vanilla sugar
  • 30 g pearl sugar (for sprinkling)

Method

    Warm the milk lukewarm and dissolve the yeast in it.

    Place flour, sugar, salt, egg, soft butter, and vanilla sugar in a mixing bowl.

    Add the milk-yeast mixture and knead everything into a smooth, pliable dough (approx. 5-10 minutes).

    Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for approx. 45-60 minutes, until its volume has significantly increased.

    Place the dough on a floured surface, knead briefly, and divide into three (or more) equally sized pieces. Roll into strands and braid a loaf.

    Place the braid on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with pearl sugar. Let rise again for 15-20 minutes.

    Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (top/bottom heat) for approx. 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
