Preparation method

Preheat the oven to 180 °C top/bottom heat. Line a baking sheet with baking paper.

Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into two equally sized rectangles (approx. 20x30 cm). Whisk the egg in a small bowl and mix with the picked thyme leaves and freshly ground pepper. Generously brush one pastry rectangle with the egg mixture and sprinkle evenly with the grated cheddar.

Place the second piece of pastry precisely on top. Lightly press down with a rolling pin (or your palms) so that the cheese adheres well to the dough. Cut the dough into strips approximately 2 cm wide with a pastry wheel or knife.
