Slice the mozzarella and tomatoes thinly. Halve or quarter the cherry tomatoes. Peel the red onion and cut it into fine half-rings.
Cut the avocados around the pit, twist the halves against each other, and separate them. Remove the pit, scoop out the flesh with a spoon, and also slice it thinly.
Arrange the mozzarella, avocado, and tomato slices alternately in a fan shape on a plate. Scatter the cherry tomatoes and onion rings over them. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Chef's tip
For a particularly intense aroma, use a high-quality extra virgin olive oil and ensure that the avocados are perfectly ripe (slightly yielding to pressure).
