In a large bowl, combine the minced beef and pork. Add the finely chopped onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, as well as paprika powder, caraway, salt, and pepper.

Knead the mixture thoroughly with your hands until all ingredients are well combined. If the mixture is too dry, add a splash of oil or water.

Form the meat mixture into patties (Pljeskavica) about 2 cm thick. If desired, you can place a slice of cheese in the middle and enclose it with meat (stuffed version).

Chef's tip

For a particularly authentic aroma, you can briefly sauté the onions in a little butter until translucent before mixing them in.
