  • 4 pcs Frankfurter sausages
  • 4 pcs Hot Dog buns
  • 1 pc yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 240 g mild sauerkraut
  • 4 pcs pickles, sliced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Mild mustard to taste
  • Fine table salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste

Preparation

    Preheat the grill to medium heat. Alternatively, a grill pan can also be used.

    Heat the olive oil in a pan and sauté the finely chopped onion until translucent, soft, and lightly golden brown.

    Add the sauerkraut to the onion in the pan, season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste, and heat through for a few minutes.

    Grill the Frankfurter sausages on the grill or in the pan for about 7 minutes, turning regularly, until hot and lightly browned.

    Meanwhile, slice open the hot dog buns and briefly toast them on the grill until lightly golden brown and crispy.

    Place the grilled sausages in the warm buns. Generously spread the onion-sauerkraut mixture on top. Garnish with mustard and pickle slices to taste.
