- 4 pcs Frankfurter sausages
- 4 pcs Hot Dog buns
- 1 pc yellow onion, finely chopped
- 240 g mild sauerkraut
- 4 pcs pickles, sliced
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- Mild mustard to taste
- Fine table salt to taste
- Ground black pepper to taste
Preparation
- 1Preheat the grill to medium heat. Alternatively, a grill pan can also be used.
- 2Heat the olive oil in a pan and sauté the finely chopped onion until translucent, soft, and lightly golden brown.
- 3Add the sauerkraut to the onion in the pan, season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste, and heat through for a few minutes.
- 4Grill the Frankfurter sausages on the grill or in the pan for about 7 minutes, turning regularly, until hot and lightly browned.
- 5Meanwhile, slice open the hot dog buns and briefly toast them on the grill until lightly golden brown and crispy.
- 6Place the grilled sausages in the warm buns. Generously spread the onion-sauerkraut mixture on top. Garnish with mustard and pickle slices to taste.
