Ingredients

  • 12 slices of toast bread
  • 100 g ham slices
  • 100 g Gouda cheese block

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

    Lay out the slices of toast bread on a work surface. Generously butter six slices.

    Distribute the ham and Gouda evenly over the buttered slices. It's best to grate the cheese fresh or cut it into thin slices so that it melts optimally.

    Place the remaining six slices of toast on top as lids.

    Bake the sandwiches in a sandwich maker until golden brown and crispy, until the cheese slightly oozes out at the sides. Alternatively, fry them in a pan over medium heat until golden yellow on both sides (lightly grease the outsides of the toasts for this).

    Halve the finished toasts diagonally and serve immediately while warm. A fresh green salad pairs excellently with this.
