Preparing the sauce
Mix all the ingredients for the sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, grated yellow onion, herbs, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper each) well in a bowl and let it rest in the fridge for at least 10 minutes.
Preparing and assembling the burger
Slice the tomatoes into 16 slices. Peel the red onion and cut into fine rings. Grill the bacon on a medium-hot grill on both sides until golden brown and crispy, then set aside.
Shape the minced beef into 4 patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper and brush with some melted butter. Place on a medium-hot grill and grill for about 3 minutes. Turn the patties, brush with butter again, and grill for another 2 minutes. Then place a slice of Cheddar on each piece of meat and grill for 1 more minute until the cheese is slightly melted. Place the finished meat on a plate.
Chef's tip
Do not overcook the meat. It should remain slightly pink on the inside – this keeps the burger as juicy as possible.
