Preparation & Caramelization
Remove the meat from the refrigerator before grilling and let it come to room temperature. Peel the onions and cut them into half-rings. Sauté in a little sunflower oil until translucent. Then add the BBQ sauce and let them caramelize over low heat.
Stir the mayonnaise smooth with the smoked paprika powder and let it steep in the refrigerator. Slice the tomato.
Grilling & Serving
Brush the patties with oil, season with pepper (and salt if needed) and grill on the hot grill for approx. 4 minutes per side until they are still slightly pink inside. At the same time, fry the bacon until crispy and toast the halved burger buns on the cut sides. Once the meat is done, sprinkle with Parmesan and let it rest for one minute.
Chef's tip
For a particularly intense aroma, you can lightly brush the burger buns with butter before toasting.
