BIFTEKI
- 300 g minced beef
- 120 g Feta P.D.O.
- 50 g red onions
- 2 leaves fresh mint
- 1 free-range egg M
- 1 slice toast bread
- 5 leaves fresh parsley
- 1/4 tsp organic lemon zest
- 1 tsp fresh oregano
- 1 pinch ground pepper
- 1 pinch fine iodized salt
Preparation of the Bifteki
- 1Cut the feta into 6 strips, about 5 cm long.
- 2Finely chop the red onion, fresh mint, parsley, and oregano. Soak the toast bread in a bowl with 50 ml of water. Add the chopped herbs, onions, a pinch of pepper, 1 tsp salt, the lemon zest, the egg, and the minced beef, and mix everything thoroughly into a uniform mass.
- 3Divide the meat mixture into 6 equal portions. Form each portion into an oval patty, place a piece of feta in the center, and firmly enclose the cheese with the meat to form elongated patties (bifteki).
- 4Place the bifteki on a preheated grill over medium heat (or in a pan) and grill or fry for approx. 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Tip
Serve the bifteki traditionally with tzatziki, cherry tomatoes, and finely sliced red onion rings. Crispy potato wedges or a fresh Greek salad also make a good side dish.
Guten Appetit!
