The followfood tuna comes from one of the most sustainable tuna fisheries in existence: the pole and line fishery in the Maldives. Here, tuna are still caught individually with a fishing rod. And this has been the case for 900 years. The ingredients in our products come exclusively from organic farming, including the sunflower oil. The tuna was caught off the Maldives using one of the most sustainable and environmentally friendly methods in the world: with rod and line, also known as "pole and line".

The tuna are caught individually using traditional bamboo fishing rods. Instead of electronic aids, flocks of birds show the followfood fishermen where the tuna are. This is how fishing has been done in the Maldives for around 900 years. This method protects nature, avoids bycatch, protects stocks and is therefore particularly natural and sustainable. The processing takes place directly on site on the small island of Maandhoo. This has qualitative advantages, among other things, since the tuna can be processed fresh from the catch. In addition, we can guarantee absolute transparency and enable the complete traceability of followfood products back to their origin.
