The followfood tuna comes from one of the most sustainable fisheries: the pole and line fishery in the Maldives. Here, tuna are still fished individually with a fishing rod. And this has been the case for 900 years. The special thing about the "No Drain" tuna - it has very little juice and can therefore be used directly for any dish without draining. Tuna was caught off the Maldives using one of the most sustainable and environmentally friendly methods in the world: with rod and line, also known as "Pole and Line". The tuna are caught individually with bamboo rods in the traditional way. Instead of electronic aids, flocks of birds show our fishermen where the tuna are. This method protects nature, avoids by-catch, protects stocks and is therefore particularly natural and sustainable.

The processing takes place directly on site on the small island of Maandhoo. This has qualitative advantages, among other things, since the tuna can be processed fresh from the catch. In addition, we can guarantee absolute transparency and enable the complete traceability of followfood products back to their origin. The Fairtrade certification also ensures that high social standards are met along the entire supply chain. In this way, a large part of the added value takes place directly at the source and ensures fair wages for all those involved.
