CO2 Decaffeination Process:

The decaffeination process uses carbon dioxide (CO2) to gently remove caffeine from the coffee beans while preserving their characteristics. The beans are exposed to high-pressure carbon dioxide. This CO2 acts as a solvent that selectively extracts the caffeine from the beans, while other flavours are preserved. The caffeinated CO2 is then separated from the coffee beans, leaving decaffeinated beans with minimal loss of flavour and aroma. Unlike other decaffeination methods, CO2 decaffeination is gentle on the beans, preserving their integrity and quality.

Compostability:

The capsules are 100% home compostable. They are suitable for home composting and compatible with Nespresso coffee machines. Ubomi coffee capsules are the first capsules certified for home composting (OK Compost Home). They are made on a bio-based, aluminium-free basis – so when you've enjoyed your cup of coffee, you can simply add the capsule to your garden compost. With Ubomi coffee capsules, you support a sustainable future.

The coffee beans are collected and then slowly roasted in drums, at a maximum temperature of 210 °C for 20 minutes. This gives the beans time to develop their intense aroma and harmonious taste. Simply great!
