Dick Bradsell invented it in 1983 during his time at the Soho Brasserie and originally called it "Vodka Espresso." The cocktail legend says that a young, future supermodel came to the bar and asked Dick to make a cocktail for her "a drink that wakes me up and then f*cks me up."

He mixed her a drink from vodka, sugar, coffee liqueur, and a shot of espresso directly from the coffee machine next to his station.

Today, the drink enjoys worldwide fame and is indispensable on any bar menu.
