Bio-Estate Esterházy

Embedded in the landscapes around Lake Neusiedl, the Esterhazy estate is not only characterized by a particularly idyllic location. For 20 years, diverse organic farming has been practiced here. In addition to the organic rearing of Angus cattle, eggs from the mobile chicken coop, and game specialties from the estate's own forests, a variety of grains and field crops are also cultivated here.

Nature conservation plays a particularly important role at Esterhazy. Therefore, they rely on a diverse crop rotation in field cultivation, the complete avoidance of agrochemicals, and closed nutrient cycles. This not only protects their own fields, meadows, and forests but also preserves the adjacent nature reserves. When it comes to animal welfare, Esterhazy sets particularly high standards: The chickens live in a mobile coop with wide-ranging access, a form of husbandry that goes far beyond organic standards. The cattle grow up in the mother cow herd and graze from spring to autumn on the steppe grasslands in the lake foreland. They spend the winter in an open stable and are fed with clover and meadow stocks harvested in spring and summer.
