The Golden Trout is a remarkable species of salmonid fish. Originally described as a subspecies of rainbow trout, it is now mostly recognized as a distinct species. Its natural habitat is in North America.
Golden Trout can reach impressive sizes: The world record from 1948 is 71 cm and almost five kilograms. Such large specimens are mainly found in lakes or ponds where they are released and fattened. However, they usually reach a maximum length of 30 centimeters.
