There is also the lifespan: with an age of up to 300 years, the pistachio tree is one of the oldest flowering cultivated plants ever. Originally, pistachios come from the Middle East. Today, however, they grow mainly in Arab and oriental countries as well as in the USA. Oh, and one more thing: the pistachio is not actually a nut at all. It is one of the stone fruits. These are so-called closed fruits, which enclose their kernels in a woody core.
