In Vienna and Perchtoldsdorf there are mixed planted vineyards. Three different grape varieties (Chardonnay, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner) are planted in these vineyards and their grapes are harvested and pressed together. The term "Gemischter Satz" is derived from the mixed planting of the individual grape varieties.
Style: Distinct bouquet with fruity elements, fresh, lively and youthful; crisp - juicy taste with a memorable character.
The Zahel winery is now run by the 4th generation, and the Viennese Gemischter Satz has always been the focus.
About 30 years ago, the winery wrote "Wiener Gemischter Satz" on a wine label for the first time thus ushering in a renaissance for the business.
Today, the winery is the only Viennese vintner to cultivate vineyards in all wine-growing zones of Vienna on approx. 30 ha of vineyards. The wine-growing regions in Mauer, Oberlaa and on the Nussberg are of particular importance here.
Since the 2017 vintage, the Zahel vineyard and all its vineyards have been 100% certified organic. And since the 2018 vintage, the winery can count itself among the circle of Demeter vintners and is Vienna's only Demeter winery. For the Zahel Winery, biodynamics means preserving healthy soils and biodiversity in harmony with nature and man.
