Biotin, also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is a water-soluble vitamin and belongs to the B group vitamins.

1. What is BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg and what is it used for?
Biotin, also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is a water-soluble vitamin and belongs to the B group vitamins. This vitamin can be produced in the intestinal flora and additionally absorbed through food. It is found in the human body in various organs and tissues.
Vitamin H plays an important role in metabolic processes (carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism).
BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg tablets are used for
Prevention and treatment of a vitamin H deficiency, which is characterized by a reduced vitamin H supply or an increased vitamin H requirement of the body. Such vitamin H deficiency conditions are particularly noticeable through changes in the hair (hair loss) and the skin (scaling, redness) as well as through disorders of nail growth.
Treatment of a vitamin H deficiency in the very rare biotin-dependent, multiple carboxylase deficiency (an inherited disease in which an enzyme for the breakdown of vitamin H from food is missing).

BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg must not be taken
- if you are allergic to vitamin H or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H.
BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H contains 5 mg of biotin per tablet. If you are undergoing a laboratory test, you must tell your doctor or laboratory staff that you are taking or have recently taken BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H, as biotin can affect the results of such tests. Depending on the test, the results may be falsely elevated or falsely lowered due to the biotin. Your doctor may ask you to stop taking BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H before performing laboratory tests. You should also be aware that other products you may be taking, such as multivitamins or hair, skin, and nail supplements, may also contain biotin and may affect the results of laboratory tests. Please tell your doctor or laboratory staff if you are taking such products.
Taking BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used, or plan to take/use any other medicines.
If you are taking antiepileptic drugs regularly, please note that these drugs can lower the vitamin H blood level.
Taking BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg with food
If vitamin H is taken at the same time as large amounts of raw egg white over a longer period of time, the absorption of vitamin H can be severely restricted. Therefore, the consumption of raw or insufficiently heated egg white should be avoided during treatment with vitamin H.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
There are no restrictions when used as directed. Vitamin H crosses the placenta and passes into breast milk.
Driving and operating machinery
No impairments are known.
How should the medicine be taken?
How should BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg be taken?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is:
Take 1/2 tablet of BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg daily with sufficient liquid.
For prophylaxis, less than 0.2 mg per day is sufficient.
Note:
To divide the tablet, place it on a firm surface with the score facing upwards and press down firmly with your finger.
For the therapy of multiple carboxylase deficiency: 1 to 2 tablets daily (5 – 10 mg
Vitamin H).
The duration of use depends on the course of the underlying disease.
Use in children and adolescents
Use in children and adolescents should only be carried out under medical prescription due to the limited data available.
If you have taken more BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg than you should:
Poisoning and overdose symptoms are not known.
If you forget to take BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg:
Do not take double the amount if you have forgotten the previous dose, but continue taking it as described in the dosage instructions or as prescribed by your doctor.
If you stop taking BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg:
There are no special precautions to be observed when using BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg as directed.

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and the container.

- The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized starch (from corn), sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A), magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.) [vegetable].
What BIO-H-TIN Vitamin H 5 mg looks like and contents of the pack:
White, round tablet, divisible into equal halves with the aid of a score line (SNAP TAB), packs of 30, 60 and 120 tablets.
