BIO Radish

Radishes are spherical, but can also be elongated, cylindrical or turnip-like. The colour varies from white to pink, red and violet to two-coloured white-red striped or half white/half red; inside, radishes are always white.

Origin

Western Asia is presumed to be its home, but also China. In Europe, radish-like forms first appeared in France in the 16th century, much later than the related radish. Today, radishes are a significant market item all over the world.

Storage recommendation

Radishes stay freshest when they are wrapped in a damp tea towel and stored in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator. The greens and root strands should be removed beforehand, as they unnecessarily draw moisture from the vegetable.
