In vino veritas - in wine lies the truth, says the proverb. For many winegrowers along the Hessian and Baden Bergstrasse, the juice of the vine has a much more profound significance. Because in their wine there is not only home, nature and quality, but above all community. It was in 1904 that the "Starkenburger Winzerverein" (Starkenburg Winegrowers' Association) was founded in Heppenheim's historic Kurmainzer Amtshof on the initiative of the priest and the mayor. And this sense of community has not changed to this day, since the association has long since changed its name to Bergsträsser Winzer eG and has already celebrated its 100th birthday 14 years ago. "It is enormous what can be achieved when many people burn together for one goal," says Dr Patrick Staub, deputy managing director of Bergsträsser Winzer eG.
