Dr. Böhm^® Valerian Dragees support healthy and restful sleep in a natural way. With high-dose valerian extract (450 mg), they help to make falling asleep easier and, above all, to improve the quality of sleep during the night. In this way, sleep duration and sleep efficiency can be increased and the restful deep sleep phases can be extended again – for a restful night's sleep and waking up refreshed in the morning. The herbal formulation is well tolerated, does not cause any potential for dependency and is already suitable for adolescents from 12 years of age. Good to know: In contrast to synthetic sleeping aids, the natural ratio of sleep phases (REM/NREM) is maintained.

Dr. Böhm Valerian 450 mg forte is a herbal medicine made from the root of valerian

(Valerianae radix), with calming and relaxing properties to promote

readiness to sleep and improve sleep quality.

Herbal medicine for the relief of sleep disorders and mild nervous tension.

This medicine is used in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over.

If you do not feel better or even worse after 2 weeks, contact your doctor.

Do not take Dr. Böhm Valerian 450 mg forte,

if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to valerian or any of the other ingredients of this medicine

listed in section 6.

Children

Use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended due to lack of data.

Taking Dr. Böhm Valerian 450 mg forte with other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used

or intend to take/use any other medicines.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning

to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

As there are insufficient data, the use of this medicine during

pregnancy and breast-feeding is not recommended.

Driving and using machines

Warning: This medicine may impair reactivity and the ability to drive.

Affected persons should not actively drive, operate machinery or

perform or participate in dangerous activities.

Dr. Böhm 450 mg Valerian forte contains glucose, sucrose and sodium

Please only take Dr. Böhm Valerian 450 mg forte after consulting your doctor if

you know that you suffer from an intolerance to certain sugars.

This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per dragee, i.e. it is essentially

"sodium-free".

How to take the medicine?

How to take Dr. Böhm 450 mg Valerian forte?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly

as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist

if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is

Adults and adolescents over 12 years:

To relieve sleep disorders:

1 dragee half an hour to an hour before bedtime.

If necessary, an additional 1 dragee earlier in the evening.

 

To relieve mild nervous tension:

1 dragee 3 times a day.

Method of administration:

For oral use.

The dragees should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of water).

 

Duration of use:

Dr. Böhm 450 mg Valerian forte is not suitable for the acute treatment of sleep disorders. Since the

maximum effect is only achieved after 2-4 weeks, continuous use is recommended.

 

If you do not feel better or even worse after 2 weeks, contact your doctor.

Use in children

Use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended due to lack of data.

If you have taken more Dr. Böhm 450 mg Valerian forte than you should

Valerian root in doses of approx. 20 g (equivalent to about 10 dragees) causes the following symptoms:

fatigue, abdominal cramps, chest tightness, lightheadedness, hand tremor and

mydriasis (dilation of the pupils). These resolve spontaneously within 24 hours. If

symptoms occur, contact a doctor.

If you forget to take Dr. Böhm 450 mg Valerian forte

Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

What are the possible side effects?

What are the possible side effects?

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody

gets them.

Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or abdominal cramps may occur.

The frequency of occurrence is not known.

Special storage instructions

How to store Dr. Böhm Valerian 450 mg forte?

Do not store above 30 °C.

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton (Expiry date) and the blister

(expiry date). The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how

to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the

environment.

- The active substance is:

Valerian root extract

1 dragee contains:

450 mg dry extract of valerian root (Valerianae radix), drug-to-extract ratio (DER)

3-6:1, extraction solvent: ethanol 70% (v/v)

- The other ingredients are:

Spray-dried glucose syrup (dry substance), highly dispersed silicon dioxide,

microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, stearic acid, talc, sucrose,

calcium carbonate E 170, acacia gum, tragacanth, bleached wax, carnauba wax,

shellac, titanium dioxide (E 171)

White, shiny, round, biconvex, coated tablets (dragees) packed in PVC/PVDC-

aluminium blister packs in a folding carton.
