The brewery's flagship is an amber-coloured IPA. Fruity notes, such as mango and passion fruit, dominate the aroma. The Punk IPA has a characteristic bitter note, accompanied by fruity aromas.
Brewdog was founded by James Watt and Martin Dickie in 2007 and began their triumphant march with the Punk IPA. BrewDog brewed "Tokyo", which was at the time the strongest beer in Great Britain, drawing media attention and thus setting things in motion. Brewdog exported to Sweden, America, and Japan, becoming Scotland's largest independent brewery. To meet demand and make investments, they launched "Equity for Punks", a shareholding program through which anyone could invest in Brewdog. Numerous awards followed, and the first bars were opened; there is even a dedicated BrewDog Hotel. Meanwhile, there is a dedicated Brewdog brewery in Columbus, Ohio, to brew fresh beer locally in America as well.
