About the producer:

After losing Olivier Rivière as a partner due to the "natural" range, a new opportunity arose for the winery: Antonio, an old acquaintance and Spain specialist, recommended Bodegas Bhilar. Excited by the wines, which Antonio described as the best he had recently come across from the region, we decided to order samples. The delivery arrived quickly, and the tasting exceeded all expectations.

Winemaker and philosophy

David Sampedro Gil, the winemaker behind Bodegas Bhilar, brings his experience from renowned producers in the region. Back in Rioja Alta, he combines traditional knowledge with modern practices. He focuses on biodynamic cultivation and avoids systemic pesticides. His focus is on classic Rioja wines with deep, narrative grapes. In addition to Tempranillo and Grenache, he also uses old varieties such as Graciano and Viura to create wines that are both powerful and joyful.

Viticulture and terroir

Bodegas Bhilar is located in Rioja Alta, a region with old vineyards in a hilly landscape cooled by surrounding mountains. David Sampedro Gil revitalizes the old vine culture and works in the vineyards with horses to promote biodynamics.

This approach produces wines that present classic Rioja characteristics in a contemporary form and rekindle the joy of wine.
