Fresh BIO pasture-raised goose whole - ready to roast - with giblets (heart, liver & gizzard) - medium size 4.1 - 4.3 kg for 3-4 people.
The taste of the meat is significantly positively influenced by pasture grazing. BIO AUSTRIA pasture-raised geese are leaner than geese not raised on pasture, have darker, fine-fibred meat and show significantly less roasting loss, which gives the goose a tender and delicate taste.
BIO AUSTRIA Goose Farming - stricter than the law
All organic farmers in Austria must comply with the guidelines of the EU Organic Regulation. BIO AUSTRIA farmers must also comply with the much stricter BIO AUSTRIA guidelines.
Species-appropriate animal husbandry in organic farming is, on the one hand, supported by legal requirements of the Organic Regulation. On the other hand – and this is what makes the BIO AUSTRIA Pasture-Raised Goose project special – through additional requirements implemented by bioVermarktung Handels GesmbH together with its BIO AUSTRIA farms.
To guarantee species-appropriate goose husbandry, the species-typical behaviour of the animals must be known and taken into account. BIO AUSTRIA farmers respect the needs of geese and express this through particularly species-appropriate housing. The goslings on BIO AUSTRIA farms grow up in a warm stable, bedded with straw and wood shavings. As soon as the weather permits, the geese are allowed onto the pasture and to bathe in the sun. The main feed consists of fresh green fodder from the pastures and grain from their own production.
A basic prerequisite for the well-being of geese, in addition to organic, GMO-free feed and pasture, is appropriate access to water. The BIO AUSTRIA geese do not need to 'sit high and dry'.
