- if you are allergic to Extractum Cepae, Heparin-Sodium, Allantoin, Citronellol, Geraniol, Benzyl alcohol, Citral and Linalool or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
- in infants (children under 1 year of age).
- on open or unhealed wounds or on mucous membranes.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Contractubex.
- Do not apply to open skin areas. Contractubex may only be used on closed and healed scars.
- Avoid extreme cold or UV light or excessive massaging. Protect scars from sunlight.
- Avoid contact with mucous membranes and conjunctiva.
Use of Contractubex together with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.
No interactions are known to date.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
No risks are known to date during pregnancy and breast-feeding when using Contractubex.
Driving and using machines
Contractubex has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Contractubex contains sorbic acid and methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate
Sorbic acid can cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Contractubex contains a paraben (methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate), which can cause allergic reactions, including delayed reactions.
Contractubex contains the fragrances Citronellol, Geraniol, Benzyl alcohol, Citral and Linalool. These can cause allergic reactions.

How should the medicine be taken?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
For application to the skin.
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, Contractubex is applied to the skin or scar tissue several times a day and gently massaged in until the gel has been absorbed by the skin. In the case of hardened, old scars, it may be left to work overnight under a dressing.
Depending on the extent and severity of the existing scar or contracture, treatment will last for several weeks to months.
Use in children
Use in children under 2 years of age should only be on the basis of a doctor's prescription.
In infants from 1 year of age, the gel can be applied to the scar tissue 1 to 2 times a day.
There are no data on the use in infants (children under 1 year of age), therefore use cannot be recommended.

What Contractubex contains
- The active ingredients are Extractum Cepae, Heparin-Sodium, Allantoin. 100 g gel contains 10 g Extractum Cepae, 5000 IU Heparin-Sodium, 1 g Allantoin.
- The other ingredients are sorbic acid, methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, macrogol 200, xanthan gum, purified water and perfume oil.
What Contractubex looks like and contents of the pack
Transparent to opaque, colourless to light brown gel. Aluminium tube with 10 g, 20 g and 50 g gel. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
