The Combur-Test® product line provides fast and reliable results. In these quality test strips, the test fields for blood and glucose are protected by iodate (Figure 1). The potent oxidising agent largely eliminates the vitamin C present in the urine sample. A study showed that in direct comparison with other urine test strips, only the Combur-Test® product line is largely resistant to vitamin C influence. (8) Even the lowest but clinically relevant concentrations of erythrocytes, haemoglobin and glucose are reliably detected. At glucose concentrations from 5.5 mmol/l (100 mg/dl), virtually no false-negative results occur, even at high ascorbic acid concentrations.
