Orthomol Immun® for the dietary treatment of immunodeficiencies caused by nutrients, such as can occur after chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Contains important micronutrients for the immune system. Vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, selenium, copper, folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 contribute to the normal function of the immune system. Immune cells need to divide and develop quickly in case of immune system activation. Zinc has a function in cell division, vitamin A has a function in cell specialisation. Free radicals can be produced during immune reactions. The antioxidants vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B2 as well as zinc, selenium, copper and manganese contribute to the protection of the cells against oxidative stress. Secondary plant compounds, such as carotenoids and citrus bioflavonoids, also have antioxidant properties. The mucosa (mucous membrane) of the respiratory tract plays an important role as a barrier against germs of all kinds. Vitamin A, vitamin B2, biotin and niacin contribute to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes.
