Chelating agents such as D-penicillamine, dimercaptopropanesulfonic acid (DMPS) or edetinic acid (EDTA) can reduce the absorption of zinc or increase its excretion.
Taking or administering glucocorticoids, antipyretics and contraceptives can lead to a decrease in serum zinc concentration.
The absorption of ofloxacin and other quinolones is impaired by zinc.
The simultaneous intake of iron, copper or calcium preparations reduces the absorption of zinc.
