Why do peaches have fine hairs?
The fuzz protects the fruit from water loss and too rapid water absorption. In addition, the hairs together with the peach skin ensure that no water can penetrate the fruit from the outside.
Peaches are distinguished into fruits with velvety, downy hair with either light or heavy stone solubility, whereby there are white-fleshed and yellow-fleshed varieties. Fruits with smooth skin are nectarines. The peach fruit is round with a distinct longitudinal groove, the silky hairy skin is yellow to red in colour. The juicy sweet and highly aromatic flesh, which encloses a hard core, makes the peach such a popular fruit.
Origin
The peach originates from China. Cultivation takes place in all countries of the world with a warm-temperate climate, in the subtropical summer rain area as well as in higher altitudes of the tropics. Italy is considered the "peach garden of Europe", and further cultivation takes place in France, Spain, Greece, the USA, South America, Australia and South Africa.

Preparation
