Description
Apricots are 4-8 cm large, spherical to ovoid stone fruits. The skin is velvety, sometimes smooth, and light yellow to orange-yellow, reddish on the sunny side. From the stalk to the point of attachment of the pistil runs the seam characteristic of apricots, dividing the fruit into two fruit cheeks. The flesh is white, yellow or intense orange, juicy and extremely tasty.
Origin
The origin of apricots is China and the highlands between the Caspian and Black Seas, which belong to Iran and Turkey.
Tips
Fully ripe fruits have an excellent aroma and should be consumed quickly. Fruits picked too early, on the other hand, do not ripen.
Preparation
First and foremost, apricots are fresh fruits and are perfect for apricot dumplings, apricot cake or an apricot roast. As dried fruit, they are offered halved and unpeeled.
