Venostasin Cream must not be used
if you are allergic to horse chestnut seed dry extract, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6

Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Venostasin cream.

• If there is new or suddenly increased pain, rapidly increasing swelling or bluish discolouration, especially if it only occurs on one leg, a doctor should be consulted immediately, as these characteristics may be signs of leg vein thrombosis, which requires rapid medical intervention.
• If inflammation of the skin, superficial phlebitis, induration under the skin, severe pain, ulcers, sudden swelling of one or both legs, heart or kidney weakness occur during use of Venostasin cream, a doctor should be consulted immediately.If inflammation of the skin, superficial phlebitis, hardening under the skin, severe pain, ulcers, sudden swelling of one or both legs, heart or kidney weakness occur during the use of Venostasin cream, a doctor should be consulted immediately as this may be a sign of a serious illness.
• Contact of Venostasin cream with eyes and mucous membranes as well as open wounds or areas of skin treated with radiation should be avoided. After applying Venostasin cream, it is essential to clean your hands thoroughly.

Important information about certain other ingredients of Venostasin cream:
Sorbic acid and polysorbate may cause local skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis).

Contains small amounts of benzoic acid and benzyl benzoate, these may cause local irritation.

This medicinal product contains a fragrance with cinnamaldehyde and linalool. Cinnamaldehyde and linalool may cause allergic reactions.

Butylhydroxytoluene and cetylstearyl alcohol may cause local skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis), irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.

The ingredients methyl 4-hydoxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate may cause allergic reactions, including delayed reactions.

Note
The use of Venostasin cream does not replace other preventive or treatment measures such as cold water showers or the wearing of support stockings prescribed by a doctor.

Children and adolescents
The use of Venostasin cream is not intended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Use of Venostasin cream with other medicines.
No interactions with other medicines have been reported for Venostasin cream.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.

Use Venostasin cream with food and drink.
No special precautions are necessary.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Since there are insufficient data, use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Driving ability and ability to operate machines
There are no known restrictions.

How should the medicine be taken?

HOW TO USE VENOSTASIN-CREME?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:

Unless otherwise prescribed, adults apply Venostasin cream thinly and evenly to the intact skin of the affected areas of the body 1 to 3 times daily.

Use in children and adolescents
Use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is not intended.

Type of application
For use on the skin.
Venostasin cream should not be used under final dressings and not at the same time as heat application.

Duration of use
The duration of use is not limited. However, if the symptoms worsen or signs of infection of the skin appear or there is no improvement within 2 weeks, a doctor must be consulted.

If you have used a larger amount of Venostasin cream than you should
If you have accidentally applied a larger amount of Venostasin cream, there are usually no adverse effects.

If you forget to use Venostasin Cream
Do not apply twice the amount if you have forgotten to use it previously, continue to use it as prescribed by your doctor or as described in the dosage instructions.

If you stop using Venostasin Cream
Interrupting or prematurely stopping treatment is usually safe.
If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Venostasin cream has a shelf life of 6 months after first opening.
Tightly close the tube after use.

Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

What Venostasin cream contains

- The active substance is: dry extract of horse chestnut seeds.
100 g cream contains 3.8 g dry extract of horse chestnut seeds (drug-extract ratio 4.5-5.5:1),
extractant: ethanol 50 % (V/V).
- The other ingredients are:
Methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, ethanol, emulsifying cetylstearyl alcohol, sodium cetylstearyl sulphate, white vaseline, perfume oil flower and herb fragrance (contains a.o.. butylhydroxytoluene, linalool, cinnamaldehyde and benzoates), simeticon emulsion 30% (simeticon, polysorbate 65, stearates, mixture of glycerol, fatty acids and mono-, di- and triglycerides, methylcellulose, xanthan gum, sorbic acid, benzoic acid, sulphuric acid 98%, purified water), purified water.
