Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Venostasin gel.
  • If there is new or suddenly increased pain, rapidly increasing swelling or bluish discolouration, especially if it only occurs on one leg, a doctor should be consulted immediately, as these characteristics may be signs of
    leg vein thrombosis, which requires rapid medical intervention.
  • If inflammation of the skin, superficial phlebitis, induration under the skin, severe pain, ulcers, sudden swelling of one or both legs, heart or kidney weakness occur during use of Venostasin gel, a doctor should be consulted immediately.If inflammation of the skin, superficial phlebitis, severe pain, ulcers, sudden swelling of one or both legs, heart or kidney weakness occur during the use of Venostasin gel, a doctor should be consulted immediately, as this may be a sign of a serious illness.

The use of Venostasin gel does not replace other preventive or treatment measures such as e.g. cold water showers or the wearing of medically prescribed support stockings.

Children and adolescents
The use of Venostasin gel is not intended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Use of Venostasin gel with other medicines.
No interactions with other medicines have been reported for Venostasin gel.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Since there are insufficient data, use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Driving ability and ability to operate machinery.
There are no known restrictions.

The ingredient propylene glycol may cause skin irritation.

How should the medicine be taken?

HOW TO USE VENOSTASIN GEL?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:
Unless otherwise prescribed, adults apply Venostasin gel thinly and evenly to the intact skin of the affected areas of the body 1 to 3 times a day.

Use in children and adolescents
Use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is not intended.

Type of application
For use on the skin.
Venostasin gel should not be used under closing dressings and not at the same time as heat application.

Duration of application
In principle, the duration of application is not limited. However, if the symptoms worsen or signs of infection of the skin appear or there is no improvement within 2
weeks, a doctor must be consulted.
If you have used a larger amount of Venostasin gel than you should
If you have accidentally applied a larger amount of Venostasin gel, this does not usually have any adverse consequences.

If you forget to use Venostasin Gel
Do not apply twice the amount if you have forgotten to use it previously,continue to use it as prescribed by your doctor or as described in the dosage instructions.

The active ingredient is: Aescin
100 g gel contains 1 g aescin [extract of horse chestnut seeds, drug-extract ratio (45-77:1)]
Extractant: methanol 65% (V/V).

The other ingredients are:
2-propanol, propylene glycol, carbomer 980, trolamine, purified water
