Grippostad Heißgetränk is an analgesic and antipyretic medicine.

Grippostad Heißgetränk is used for
mild to moderately severe pain (such as headache, toothache, period pain)
fever and pain in colds and flu-like infections.

What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What should you be aware of before taking Grippostad Heißgetränk?

Grippostad Heißgetränk must NOT be taken

  • If you are allergic to the active substance paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6
  • .
  • if you have a severe impairment of liver function.
  • In a certain metabolic disease: hereditary glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (risk of anaemia - haemolytic anaemia)
  • .
  • In case of excessive or chronic alcohol consumption
  • .
  • of children under 12 years of age and patients with a body weight of less than 43 kg, as Grippostad Hot Drink Powder cannot be dosed appropriately according to weight.

Please talk to your pharmacist before taking Grippostad C::
  • If you have an impairment of liver function, such as hepatitis or a congenital disease with jaundice (Gilbert's syndrome)
  • .
  • in cases of pronounced kidney dysfunction
  • .
  • in cases of chronic malnutrition
  • .
  • In the occurrence of certain urinary stones (due to an increase in oxalic acid in the urine)
  • .
Warnings
Exceeding the recommended dose, as with all medicines containing paracetamol (like Grippostad hot drink), can lead to kidney damage and very serious liver damage. An antidote must then be administered as soon as possible (see section 3). In this case, immediate medical treatment is required.

To avoid the risk of overdose, it must be ensured that Medicines taken at the same time do not contain the same active substance as Grippostad . Contain hot drink (paracetamol). Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if any of the medicines you are taking at the same time contain paracetamol and if the dosage needs to be adjusted.

General information about painkillers:

Without medical or dental advice, you should generally not take medicines containing paracetamol (such as Grippostad hot drink) for longer than 3 days and not in increased amounts.
Painkiller headache
Prolonged high-dose, non-intended use of painkillers may cause headaches, which must not be treated by increased doses of the medicine. If necessary, please ask your doctor for advice.
Kidney damage
In general, the habitual use of painkillers, especially when combined with several analgesic agents, can lead to permanent kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure (nephropathy).

Stopping painkillers
If painkillers are discontinued abruptly after prolonged high-dose, non-intended use, headaches as well as fatigue, muscle pain, nervousness and vegetative symptoms (such as tendency to sweat, dizziness, trembling, palpitations) may occur. These complaints subside within a few days. Until then
19.06.2012, Brt 2the re-taking of painkillers should be discontinued and the re-taking should not be done without medical advice.

Taking Grippostad Hot Drink with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Interactions are possible with:
  • Certain medicines for gout (probenecid): If taken at the same time, the dose of Grippostad Hot Drink should be reduced, as the breakdown of the active substance paracetamol in Grippostad Hot Drink may be slowed down.
  • Medicines which, due to their properties, have an influence on the liver such as: Tuberculosis drugs (rifampicin) or drugs against epilepsy, as well as other drugs that may damage the liver. If taken at the same time as Grippostad hot drink, there is an increased risk of liver damage.
  • Certain antibiotics = medicines against infections (chloramphenicol):In case of
    simultaneous administration of Grippostad Hot Drink and chloramphenicol, the degradation of the antibiotic may be delayed (increased side effects possible).
  • Medicines that lead to an acceleration of gastric emptying, such as metoclopramide (certain medicine against nausea): may cause an acceleration of the absorption and onset of action of Grippostad Hot Drink.
  • Certain medicines for pain and fever (salicylamides): may lead to delayed excretion of Grippostad Hot Drink.
  • Anticoagulants e.g.: Warfarin and fluindione (anticoagulants): Repeated use of Grippostad Hot Drink for more than one week increases the effect of anticoagulant medicines.
  • Certain agents for lowering increased blood lipid levels (colestyramine): may reduce the absorption and thus the effectiveness of Grippostad Hot Drink.
  • Medicines that cause the stomach to empty more slowly, such as propantheline, can delay the absorption and onset of action of Grippostad Heißgetränk.
  • Medicines for the treatment of HIV infection (zidovudine): The tendency to a reduction in white blood cells (neutropenia) is increased. Grippostad hot drink should therefore only be taken at the same time as zidovudine on medical advice.
  • Certain medicines for stomach and intestinal ulcers (nizatidine): lead to increased blood levels of the active ingredient paracetamol.
  • Certain medicines against stomach and intestinal complaints (cisapride): increase the availability of the active substance paracetamol in the body.
  • Lamotrigine (specific medicinal product for epilepsy or depression): Simultaneous administration of Grippostad hot drink and lamotrigine leads to a reduced availability of lamotrigine.

  • Effects on laboratory tests: Taking paracetamol can affect laboratory tests, such as uric acid determination, as well as blood glucose determination.
Taking Grippostad Hot Drink with food, drink and dietary supplements. Alcohol
Grippostad hot drink must not be taken together with alcohol.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy
If necessary, Grippostad hot drink can only be taken during pregnancy after strict consideration of the risk-benefit ratio and in the lowest possible dose for the shortest possible period. Your doctor will therefore decide whether you should use it during pregnancy. Contact your doctor if the pain and/or fever are not relieved or if you need to take the medicine more often.
You should not take Grippostad hot drink in combination with other medicines during pregnancy, as the safety of use for these cases has not been proven.
breastfeeding
Paracetamol passes into breast milk. Since adverse effects on the infant have not been reported so far, interruption of breast-feeding will not usually be necessary in the case of short-term use. However, the dosage should be kept as low as possible and the duration of application as short as possible.

Driving ability and ability to operate machinery.
Grippostad hot drink has no effect on the ability to drive or use machines. Nevertheless, caution is always advised after taking a painkiller because of possible side effects.

Grippostad Hot Drink contains sucrose and aspartame.
Sucrose (sucrose):
Please therefore only take Grippostad Heißgetränk after consulting your doctor if you are known to suffer from a sugar intolerance.

Note for diabetics: This medicine is suitable for diabetics.
1 sachet contains 3.8 g sucrose corresponding to approx. 0.32 bread units (BE).
Aspartam:
This medicinal product contains 95 mg of aspartame per sachet corresponding to 19 mg/g. Aspartame is a source of phenylalanine. It can be harmful if you have phenylketonuria

How should the medicine be taken?

How should Grippostad Heißgetränk be taken?

In principle, painkillers should be dosed as low as is necessary for a sufficient effect and should only be used for as long as necessary to keep the risk of the occurrence of undesirable effects as low as possible.
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over (and weighing at least 43 kg)take 1 sachet as a single dose.
The time interval between two intakes should be at least 6 hours.
A single dose of 1 sachet must not be exceeded.

The maximum daily dose of 3 sachets/day at intervals of 6 - 8 hours must not be exceeded.
Children under 12 years of age or persons under 43 kg body weight
Grippostad hot drink powder is not suitable for children under 12 years of age or persons under 43 kg body weight, as it is not possible to dose according to weight. Suitable other dosage forms with lower active ingredient content are available for them. Please consult your doctor about this.
Older patients (65 years and over)
No special dose adjustment based on age is required. In the case of underweight and organ dysfunction, see the corresponding notes.

Patients with liver dysfunction
Grippostad Hot Drink should only be taken by patients with liver dysfunction and Gilbert's syndrome (a congenital disease) on the advice of a doctor. The dose must be reduced or the dose interval (= the time interval between two doses) must be extended.
Patients with kidney dysfunction
In case of severe kidney dysfunction, a dose interval (=the time interval between 2 intakes) of at least 8 hours must be observed.

Mode of administration
The contents of the sachet are placed in a cup, filled with hot water, stirred well
and drunk hot.

Duration of use
The duration of use should be limited to the duration of illness.
Do not take Grippostad hot drink for longer than 3 days without medical or dental advice. If symptoms persist for more than 3 days, a doctor must be consulted. Please talk to your doctor if you have the impression that the effect of Grippostad Heißgetränk is too strong or too weak.
If you have taken a larger amount of Grippostad Hot Drink than you should

To avoid the risk of overdose, make sure that other medical personnel are not involved.To avoid the risk of an overdose, make sure that other medicines used at the same time do not contain the same active substance as Grippostad Hot Drink (paracetamol)!
A risk of poisoning exists especially in elderly people, small children, people with liver disease, chronic alcohol abuse, chronic malnutrition or undernourishment and in the simultaneous intake of medicines that have an effect on liver function.
If you suspect an overdose with Grippostad Hot Drink (if you have taken a larger quantity than recommended), inform a doctor immediately so that he/she can decide on the further course of action and take appropriate countermeasures.

In the event of an overdose with Grippostad Hot Drink, the following symptoms may occur initially (on the 1st day), for example: Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, paleness and abdominal pain. Despite improvement of the general condition on the 2nd day, progressive damage to the liver may occur.

In case of poisoning, immediate treatment is absolutely necessary, even if you do not feel ill, as there is a risk of delayed, severe damage to the liver. The symptoms experienced may be limited to nausea or vomiting and do not necessarily indicate the severity of the overdose or the risk of organ damage.

If you forget to take Grippostad Hot Drink
Do not take twice the amount if you have forgotten to take it before.Take the next dose at the usual time.

Keep this medicine outof the reach of children.
You must not use this medicinal product after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and sachet after "used by" or "expiry date". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

Do not store above +25° C. Store in the outer carton to protect the contents from light.

5. How should Grippostad Heißgetränk be stored?

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

Do not store above +25° C. Store in the outer carton to protect the contents from light.

Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you are no longer using it.
