Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your pharmacist before taking Laxasan.
In case of abdominal pain of unknown origin, nausea or vomiting, it is essential to consult a doctor before therapy in order to exclude other causes of illness.
Although a habituation effect has not yet been observed, it should be noted that the regular use of laxatives can lead to a reduction in the sensitivity of the intestinal mucosa, so that the laxative effect can only be achieved by increasing the dose. Taking it for a long period of time should therefore be avoided.
Cases of dizziness and/or fainting have been reported after taking Laxasan. These incidents may be due to the consequences of constipation (increase in pressure during bowel movements, pain) and are not necessarily caused by Laxasan.
Diarrhoeal watery stools may cause abdominal pain and fluid loss. This undesirable effect can be remedied by reducing the dose.
Generally, you must always make sure you drink enough water when using Laxasan. Long-term daily use of laxatives should be avoided by appropriate dietary measures, such as a high-fibre diet.
Prolonged or high-dose use often results in the loss of potassium and other minerals. This can lead to disturbances in heart function, tiredness, water retention in the body (tendency to oedema) and muscle weakness.
Children and adolescents
Children and adolescents must not take laxatives without a doctor's recommendation (see "How to take Laxasan?"). Laxasan - drops must not be given to children under 4 years of age (see "Laxasan must not be taken").
Taking Laxasan with other medicines
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.
Certain heart medicines (cardiac glycosides):
Increase the effect of cardiac glycosides in case of potassium deficiency.
Drainers and adrenocortical hormones (glucocorticoids):
Amplification of potassium loss.
Antibiotics:
Decrease or loss of laxative effect.
Taking Laxasan with food and drink
Please do not forget that the first thing you need to do is to take Laxasan by diet (high-fibre meals with vegetables, salad, fruit, resp. Please do not forget that your diet (high-fibre meals with vegetables, salad, fruit or the addition of wheat bran, flaxseed, etc.), plenty of fluids and physical exercise can already improve or prevent constipation.Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking/using this medicine.
Laxasan must not be taken during pregnancy, especially during the first three months, unless prescribed by a doctor.
There is no experience of the use of Laxasan in nursing mothers. Due to the properties of the active substance, the use of Laxasan in breastfeeding women may be considered.
Driving and ability to operate machinery
No studies have been conducted on the effects on driving and ability to operate machinery.
Dizziness and/or fainting may occur as a reaction to, for example, cramps in the abdomen and the increase in pressure during defecation (see section "Warnings and precautions"). If such side effects occur, you should refrain from activities that require increased attention (e.g. participating in road traffic, operating machinery).
Laxasan contains p-hydroxybenzoic acid methyl ester and macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate
The other ingredient p-hydroxybenzoic acid methyl ester may cause allergic reactions, which may also be delayed.
The other ingredient macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate may cause stomach upset and diarrhoea.
