Pharmaton - capsules represent a combination of the standardised Panax ginseng extract G115 with selected vitamins, minerals and trace elements necessary for maintaining health.

Application

What is Pharmaton and what is it used for?

Pharmaton - capsules represent a combination of the standardised Panax Ginseng extract G115 with selected vitamins, minerals and trace elements necessary for the maintenance of health.

G115 is an extract obtained by special procedures from the genuine Panax Ginseng C. A. Meyer, which contains standardised amounts of the ginsenosides that are partly responsible for its effectiveness.

In trials and studies it has been shown that the standardised ginseng extract G115 increases general cell activity, which can support physical and mental performance.

An undersupply of vitamins, minerals and trace elements can lead to general weakness, fatigue, decrease in vitality, reduced resistance and slower recovery after illness.

Pharmaton - capsules are used

.
for tiredness and feeling of weakness;
For the treatment or prevention of vitamin and mineral deficiencies, conditionally
Due to dieting, slimming diets, loss of appetite, unbalanced diet, inadequate
Nutritional intake in old age;
during recovery.

Pharmaton capsules are used in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

Warnings and precautions.
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Pharmaton, . . . .
If you are pregnant or of childbearing age or breastfeeding: Pregnant women and women in
of childbearing age without assured protection against conception must not, because of the risk of
child malformations a daily dose of 5,000 I.U. vitamin A as well as of 600 I.U.
In principle, do not exceed cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). This also applies to the breastfeeding period
(see ,,Pregnancy and lactation");
if you have been diagnosed with significantly elevated blood lipid levels (hypertriglyceridaemia type
V) or if you need to undergo blood purification (haemodialysis): the intake
of vitamin A can lead to an overdose of vitamin A (hypervitaminosis);
If you are taking medicines to inhibit blood clotting at the same time (oral
Anticoagulants) (see ,,Taking Pharmaton with others
Medicinal products").

While taking Pharmaton - capsules, you should refrain from taking additional vitamin and mineral preparations of the same composition. High doses of some active ingredients, especially vitamin A, vitamin D, iron and copper, can be harmful to health.
Taking Pharmaton with other medicines.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.

If ginseng-containing medicines and medicines for thinning the blood (anticoagulants) are taken at the same time, the effect of the blood thinner taken (e.g. warfarin) may possibly be reduced. Please talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you are taking medicines to thin your blood. If necessary, your doctor must check the setting with these medicines.

Pharmaton - capsules contain iron. Iron-containing medicinal products cause an inhibition of antibiotic absorption when taken at the same time as certain medicinal products against infections (antibiotics from the tetracycline group); it is therefore essential to keep an interval of at least 2 hours between taking Pharmaton capsules and tetracycline antibiotics.

If taken according to the recommendations, no interactions of the vitamins contained in Pharmaton - capsules are to be expected. For some vitamins, however, multiple types of possible interactions are known, partly at higher dosages.
Generally known interactions caused by:

Vitamin A
If contraceptives ("the pill") are taken at the same time, there is an increase in the vitamin A blood level. Simultaneous administration of cholestyramine (for lowering cholesterol), paraffin oil or neomycin (antibiotic = medicine against infections) reduces the absorption of vitamin A. High doses of vitamin A may increase the effect of concomitant treatment with certain blood thinning medicines. Also, the simultaneous intake of antacids (neutralising stomach medicines), sucralfate (for the treatment of gastrointestinal ulcers), isotretinoids (vitamin A-like medicines, e.g. against acne) and other vitamin A-containing medicines should be avoided.

Vitamin D3
Vitamin D levels may be elevated with concomitant administration of certain hormones (oestrogens), isoniazid (anti-tuberculosis drug) and diuretic drugs (thiazide diuretics), leading to abnormal calcium blood levels. On the other hand, the absorption of vitamin D can be reduced if antacids (stomach neutralisers), verapamil (used to treat high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias and circulatory disorders of the heart) are taken at the same time,
Cholestyramine (for lowering cholesterol), barbiturates (anaesthetics), phenytoin (medicines for treating epilepsy) and anticonvulsants. Vitamin D increases the effect of doxorubicin (a drug used to treat cancer). The adverse effects of cardiac glycosides may increase as a result of an increase in calcium blood levels during vitamin D treatment.

Vitamin E
The effect of medicines to thin the blood may be increased if vitamin E is taken at the same time.

Vitamin B1
5-Fluorouracil (medicine used to treat cancer) cancels the effect of vitamin B1. Antacids (stomach neutralisers) inhibit the absorption of vitamin B1.

Vitamin B6
The simultaneous administration of isoniazid (medicine against tuberculosis) or D-penicillamine (medicine for certain forms of arthritis) may increase the need for vitamin B6 (pyridoxine). Vitamin B6 in daily doses of 5 mg or more can weaken the effect of levodopa (medicine for Parkinson's disease).

Vitamin B12
Neomycin (antibiotic = medicine against infections), aminosalicylic acid (medicine against certain intestinal inflammations) and H2 blockers (medicine to reduce stomach acid) can reduce the absorption of vitamin B12.

Vitamin C
Acetylsalicylic acid reduces the absorption of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) into the body by about one third. Vitamin C can interfere with some urine sugar tests. Therefore, the administration of vitamin C should be discontinued a few days before such a test.

Biotin
There are indications that anticonvulsant drugs lower the blood level of biotin. Conversely, biotin can also reduce the effectiveness of medicines used to treat epilepsy. If biotin is taken at the same time as large amounts of raw chicken egg white over a long period of time, the absorption of biotin may be severely restricted.The blood levels of vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin C can be reduced by contraceptives (,,the pill").

Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
for advice.

Pregnant women and women of childbearing age without reliable protection against conception must not exceed a daily dose of 5,000 I.U. vitamin A and 600 I.U. cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) because of the risk of foetal malformations. Constant overdoses of
Vitamin D can have a harmful effect on the unborn or newborn baby. This must be taken into account especially if the newborn receives additional vitamin D.

Sufficient experience is not available on the use of ginseng extract in humans during pregnancy and lactation.

The intake of Pharmaton - capsules during pregnancy and breastfeeding is therefore not recommended.

Driving ability and ability to operate machinery.
No studies have been carried out on the effects on the ability to drive and operate machinery.

Pharmaton - capsules contain 1.28 mg peanut oil in 1 capsule. If you are hypersensitive (allergic) to peanut or soya, do not take this medicine.

Note for diabetics: Pharmaton - capsules contain 308 mg carbohydrates in 1 capsule corresponding to 0.025 bread units (BE). Taking ginseng can slightly lower blood sugar levels.

Symptoms of poisoning in case of overdose are caused by the fat-soluble vitamins A and D. Long-term daily intake of larger amounts (corresponding to more than
37 capsules for vitamin A and more than 10 capsules for vitamin D) may cause symptoms of chronic poisoning such as vomiting, headache, drowsiness and diarrhoea.

Severe acute poisoning can be caused by an overdose of iron. The total daily intake of iron and zinc should not exceed 15 mg each for both trace elements.

If you forget to take Pharmaton
Continue taking it at the next time. Do not take double the amount if you have forgotten to take it before.
