The Hirschbirne is an ancient pear variety whose origins lie in Eastern Styria, with a focus on the Pöllau Valley. The fruit became popular through our tireless pioneering efforts. We have not only prevented the progressive clearing of the trees in the region, but have also caused the stag pear to be cultivated again

In 2006, the Pöllau region was awarded the title Genuss Region Pöllauer Hirschbirne. Hirsch, by the way, does not refer to the animal, but comes from the word autumn  (Hiascht).

As special as the stag pear looks, its ingredients are valuable: the potassium contained in the stag pear has a diuretic effect and the many dietary fibres are filling and promote digestion. Furthermore, the stag pear provides iron, vitamins and valuable flavonoids that invigorate your heart and circulation.
