112 years ago, our great-grandfather Johann Polz laid the foundation for the winery on Grassnitzberg, Rilke wrote his Duino Elegies and the RMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic.

Today, we are working in the 4th generation to bring our idea of excellence into the glass. With our hands, with our soils, with nature. Erich Polz jun. has been managing the business since spring 2020 with the will to guide all the fabulous potential and valuable knowledge that lies in the long history of our family into a good future. A future for many more generations on the farm.

Erich's brother Christoph is responsible for the cellar and vinification. Empathetic, calm, with great confidence in every grape. This is because every single fruit at the Polz winery is hand-picked and embarks on the venerable path of its joyful destiny. It doesn't matter whether it's lively, animating regional wines or the greatest possible Gewächse of our sphere of activity that have matured to perfection. Our passion is manual labour. And our craft grows directly from our origin in southern Styria.

For many years now, and in the future even more intensively, the focus has been on the sustainability of our work. Be it the gentle pruning of vines, which has now been practiced for over a decade, the complete renunciation of insecticides or the careful conversion of all our vineyards to organic-biological cultivation, which is currently being implemented.
