“Put that away, Mia. PLEASE. Can’t you see I want Paul to drink his tea?” Mia shrugs and puts her coconut water in the fridge. Mia loves coconut water. Mia also likes water. And tea. And juice. But sometimes, when they go shopping, she gets a coconut water. And then she drinks it all day long, very slowly, just a sip at a time. And then another sip. And just because Paul doesn’t really want to drink anything except Mommy’s milk, Mia doesn’t have to give up her favorite drink. That would be a bit unfair. So Mia gets the coconut water out of the fridge again and sits down at the table with Daddy and Paul. Daddy sighs. Mia pats Daddy’s arm. “You just didn’t say the magic words,” she says, “that’s why he’s not drinking anything.” Daddy just sighs again. Mia pours the last of her coconut water into a glass and then carefully takes the teapot. She concentrates as she pours tea into the empty coconut water packet and then shakes it up and down in front of Paul’s nose. “Simsalabim, what’s in here? Simsalasee, delicious tea. Simsalasuu, you can have it all!” And then she holds the opening of the packet to Paul’s mouth. Daddy jumps up and shouts “Hey, he can’t …!”, but then he stops and stares and doesn’t say anything else. And whether Paul can. He can drink from the opening, just like Mia. And he drinks and drinks and smacks his lips and gurgles. And laughs and drums his feet on his chair. “See,” says Mia with satisfaction, “and you always say Pippi Nella is just a story. Now you know.” And Daddy? Daddy sighs. And then he smiles and reads the two of them an extra-long story.
