dexalgin Dequadex Throat Pastilles must not be taken,
- if you are allergic to dequalinium chloride, dexpanthenol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
- if you suffer from bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with marked hypersensitivity of the airways. Inhalation of dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenges may cause breathlessness or an
asthma attack.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges.
If symptoms persist or treatment does not have the expected effect, seek medical advice as soon as possible.
In case of severe or purulent sore throat or sore throat accompanied by high fever, headache, nausea or vomiting. If the sore throat is severe or purulent and accompanied by high fever, headache, nausea or vomiting, consult a doctor.

Children

Taking dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges with other medicinesInform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.
The effect of dexalgin Dequadex Throat Pastilles is inhibited by blood and pus.
The presence of common soaps and substances containing certain fats (e.g. phospholipids) weaken the effect of dexalgin Dequadex Throat Pastilles.
Taking dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges with food and drinks
You should not eat or drink anything immediately before and after sucking dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
As there are insufficient data, use during pregnancy and breast-feeding is not recommended.
Driving and ability to operate machinery
No studies have been conducted on the effects on driving and ability to operate machinery.
dexalgin Dequadex Throat Pastilles contain maltitol and sorbitol as a solutionSugar intolerance: dexalgin Dequadex Throat Pastilles contain maltitol and sorbitol (sugar substitutes) each as a solution. Therefore, please only take dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges after consulting your doctor if you are known to suffer from a sugar intolerance.
1 lozenge corresponds to approximately 0.05 BE.

How should the medicine be taken?
HOW TO TAKE dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Dosage
The recommended dose is:
Children aged 4 to 12 years, adolescents aged 12 years and over and adults:
Melt 1 dexalgin Dequadex throat lozenge in the mouth several times a day.
If necessary, 1 lozenge can be sucked every 2 hours (up to 5 lozenges daily).
Due to the risk of unintentional swallowing of the whole lozenge and because of the menthol content, dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges must not be used in children under 4 years of age.

How and when should you take dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges
- For best effect, do not eat or drink anything immediately before and after sucking dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges.
- If possible, start taking them at the first sign of discomfort and continue for a further 2-3 days after improvement.
- If symptoms do not subside or disappear after about 5 days, medical advice should be sought.
If symptoms persist or if the expected success from treatment does not occur, you should seek advice from your doctor or dentist.
If you have taken a larger amount of dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges than you should.
If you take more than 10 g of maltitol and sorbitol per day, which would be equivalent to more than 10 pastilles, you should expect a laxative effect.
Nausea, vomiting, convulsions, circulatory collapse and coma may occur after taking high doses of dequalinium chloride.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenges
Do not take twice the amount if you have forgotten to take it before.

What are the possible side effects?
HOW TO STORE dexalgin Dequadex Throat Pastilles?
Do not store above 25°C.
Store in the original packaging to protect the contents from light.
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after "EXP: or EXP:". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.
Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. In doing so, they contribute to the protection of the environment.

The active ingredients are: Dequalinium chloride and dexpanthenol.
1 dexalgin Dequadex Throat Lozenge contains 0.45 mg dequalinium chloride and 50 mg dexpanthenol.
The other ingredients are:
