Our meat buyer Johannes is in close contact with Austrian farmers who supply our meat products. It is not unusual for him to send us photos of his visits to the pasture, the barn or even the fish pond. Johannes breeds cattle, but they re currently on holiday in the Waldviertel, because he is well occupied at Gurkerl ;-)

 

As a food technologist and trained meat sommelier, Johannes knows the entire value chain of meat from birth to the finished dish.

He is careful in his choice of suppliers.

Organic Farm Labonca In Eastern Styria

 

Free-range organic farming, pasture slaughtering and organic processing in the butcher's shop - that's what the Labonca organic farm stands for.

 

For theorganic farmer and founder Norbert Hackl it is important that the animals' natural needs such as running, rooting and wallowing on extensive pastures are in the foreground.

 

On 300,000m² of organic free range live the sun pigs and mountain pinto cattle. The pigs get feed without corn and soy and become twice as old as other breeds. This makes the meat particularly tender and g'schackig. 

 

Der Labonca Bio-Hof wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet und ist unter anderem Träger des Bundes-Tierschutzpreises und des Klimaschutzpreises. Die Tierschutzombudsstelle Wien veröffentlichte im September 2020 einen Einkaufsführer für Schweinefleisch.
