About the producer:
Hermann Neuburger, the senior, born in 1925, completed his butcher training in Germany, at the renowned and innovative butcher school in Augsburg. Inspired by what he learned there, he developed the Neuburger recipe in 1948. The new speciality inspired the people of Ulrichsberg from the very beginning. In 1956, Hermann Neuburger senior took over his parents' butcher's shop and founded other branches in the area. The machine park was expanded, production expanded and the shops redesigned. Farming and the inn were discontinued, the whole concentration was on meat processing and the production of fine sausages. In the 1970s, the spread of supermarkets made itself felt - the previously so successful butchery trade stagnated. The speciality Neuburger already accounted for 40% of the total turnover and so the idea slowly took shape to offer Neuburger in the grocery trade, i.e. in supermarkets, as a branded product. In 1980, the next generation entered the scene with Hermann Neuburger junior. His goal: to make Neuburger known throughout Austria with the help of the food trade. When Hermann Neuburger junior took over the family business in 1986, he devoted all his attention to Neuburger only, and production of the other sausage products was stopped. This concept worked. Soon the distribution of the Neuburger was expanded to Vienna and Salzburg. Since the mid-1990s, Neuburger has been available throughout Austria and since 2009 also in parts of Germany. Thanks to the concentration, passion and perseverance of its inventors, the Neuburger has made it from an innovative idea to an unmistakable brand in just three generations.
