About the Winery:
The Justino Henriques family opened their business in 1870 in Funchal near the best locations for Boal and Malmsey grapes. Costa Campos, a former war hero, took over the business in 1980 and led it to the absolute top. From the beginning, they established themselves as an exporter to Great Britain, Spain, Germany, Scandinavia, and the USA. Campos even managed to establish himself as the undisputed number one in France. Through investments from the C&C market leader Martinez Cash and the French beverage group La Martinique, there was an investment boost and a sensible modernization of the operation. Through intensive research, they succeeded in giving the wines a nuanced, apparent lightness and finesse by shortening the heating phase from six to three months.
