Mangoes are the number 1 exotic fruit when it comes to taste, aroma, juiciness and fragrance. They are oblong to kidney-shaped with smooth, leathery skin.
But much more important than the appearance is clearly the taste in this case. These little delicacies captivate with extreme sweetness and intense taste!
And how do I eat the little ones? With thumb and forefinger "massage/press" the mango (yes, press!) until the fruit is completely soft. Then bite a small hole in the peel and suck out the mango puree. We admit: not exactly the most elegant way to eat and Knigge may turn in his grave... but you won't regret it ;-)
And now on with the info text....
Mangoes come in a wide variety of colors from grass green to yellow-orange and bright red. Their flesh is bright yellow, tender and juicy. It encloses a narrow, flat core. Mangoes taste sweet, but also tart and piquant with an intense, delicious aroma.
Origin
The mango tree, which can reach a height of 25 meters, has been known in Southeast Asia for over 4,000 years. Today, mangoes are widespread almost everywhere in the tropics and are imported by us almost all year round.
Storage recommendation
Mangoes are tropical fruits that are used to the heat. They keep the longest at temperatures above 16°C and should therefore not be stored in the refrigerator.
