The analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effect of ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets is mainly due to the inhibition of the production of certain tissue hormones (prostaglandins).
Application
What are ratioDolor akut 300 mg Schmerztabletten and what are they used for?
The analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effect of ratioDolor akut 300 mg Schmerztabletten is essentially due to the inhibition of the production of certain tissue hormones (prostaglandins).
This inhibits the development of inflammation and pain.
Ibuprofen as a lysine salt is characterised by good water solubility (20 %). The even distribution of the dissolved substance on the mucous membrane causes rapid absorption of the active substance ibuprofen into the blood in the area of the digestive tract.
The ingested amount of ibuprofen reaches its destination almost completely.
Blood levels and freedom from pain are directly related.
The highest active levels of ibuprofen in the blood are reached about 30-45 minutes after ingestion.
The protein binding in the blood is 99%.
Ibuprofen is broken down in the liver; excretion occurs within 24 hours mainly via the kidneys, but also via the bile.
ratioDolor akut 300 mg Schmerztabletten are used
for painful conditions such as headache, toothache, muscle pain, joint pain, menstrual cramps as well as pain and fever in colds and flu-like infections.
For the treatment of the acute headache phase in migraine with and without aura and for the treatment of tension headaches.
If you do not feel better or even worse after 3 to 4 days, consult your doctor.

These patients should start treatment with the lowest available dose. For these patients, concomitant treatment with a so-called "gastroprotectant" (e.g. misoprostol or proton pump inhibitors) should be considered and also for patients receiving concomitant treatment with low-dose acetylsalicylic acid or with other substances that may increase the risk of gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding (see this section above and " Taking ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Tablets with other medicines").
Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially if elderly, should report any unusual gastrointestinal complaints (such as severe stomach and/or abdominal pain, black or bloody stools) to their doctor, especially during the initial phase of therapy.
Anti-inflammatory drugs/painkillers such as ibuprofen may be associated with a slightly increased risk of heart attack or stroke, especially when used in high doses. Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of treatment.
You should discuss your treatment with your doctor or pharmacist before taking ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets if you
-
have heart disease, including heart failure and angina (chest pain), or have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, peripheral arterial disease (blood flow problems in the legs or feet due to narrowed or blocked arteries) or any type of stroke (including mini-stroke or transient ischaemic attack, "TIA"). You may have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, peripheral arterial disease (blood flow problems in the legs or feet due to narrowed or blocked arteries) or any type of stroke (including mini-stroke or transient ischaemic attack, "TIA").
- Have high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol, or a family history of heart disease or stroke, or if you are a smoker .
Skin reactions:
Serious skin reactions have been reported in connection with treatment with ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg. If you develop a skin rash, lesions of the mucous membranes, blisters or other signs of allergy, you should stop treatment with ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg and seek medical treatment immediately, as these may be the first signs of a very serious skin reaction. See section 4.
It appears that patients are at highest risk for these reactions early in the course of therapy: the onset of the reaction occurred within the first month of treatment in the majority of cases.
During a chickenpox infection (varicella), the use of ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg should be avoided (see section 4 " Diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue").
Non-bacterial meningitis (aseptic meningitis):
On rare occasions, aseptic meningitis has been observed in patients treated with ibuprofen. Although this is more likely to occur in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE, certain immune system disease) and related connective tissue diseases, it has been reported in patients without underlying chronic disease.
Further information:
Serious acute hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. anaphylactic shock) are very rarely observed. At the first sign of a hypersensitivity reaction after taking ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relief Tablets, the therapy must be discontinued. Medically necessary measures corresponding to the symptoms must be initiated by competent persons.
Ibuprofen, the active ingredient in ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets, may temporarily inhibit blood platelet function (platelet aggregation). Patients with blood clotting disorders should therefore be carefully monitored.
If ibuprofen-containing medicines are used at the same time, the effect of low-dose acetylsalicylic acid (prevention of blood clots) may be impaired. You should therefore not use medicines containing ibuprofen without the express instructions of your doctor.
In patients with certain diseases of the immune system (systemic lupus erythematosus
(SLE) and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD)), the risk of non-bacterial meningitis (aseptic meningitis) may be increased.
For existing systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and other immune system diseases (such as mixed connective tissue disease), consult a doctor before use.
If the following signs occur, discontinue the preparation and consult a doctor immediately:
Severeheadache, nausea, vomiting, fever, stiff neck and/or clouding of consciousness (signs of meningitis),
Reduction in urine output, accumulation of water in the body (oedema) or general malaise (possible signs of impaired kidney function), . .
| In case of severe stomach and/or abdominal pain, black or bloody stools, skin rash with |
Mucosal inflammation, visual or auditory disturbances, | |
| if signs of infection (e.g. redness, swelling, hyperthermia, pain, fever) are new |
occur or worsen. |
In particular with long-term use, regular checks of the blood count, blood sugar and blood coagulation values, liver and kidney function as well as the eyes and hearing are indicated.
In patients with anaemia, watch out for possible oozing bleeding during long-term treatment.
Cautious dosage in elderly people with impaired liver and/or kidney function.
Side effects can be kept low by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary to achieve freedom from symptoms.
Ibuprofen can mask the usual signs and symptoms of infectious diseases, and activation of asymptomatic infections has also been observed. These possibilities should be taken into account to avoid unnecessary delays in initiating appropriate infection treatment. If ibuprofen is also administered for infections that respond to treatment, special caution is advised.
Prolonged use of painkillers may cause headaches, which must not be treated by increased doses of the medicine. Ask your doctor for advice if you often suffer from headaches despite taking ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg pain relief tablets!
In general, the habitual use of painkillers, especially when combined with several analgesic agents, can lead to permanent kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure (analgesic nephropathy).
When using ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets, you should avoid drinking alcohol if possible, as side effects caused by the active substance, especially those affecting the gastrointestinal tract or the central nervous system, may be increased.
Children and young people
Children and adolescents with fluid deficiency are at risk of kidney dysfunction.
Must be given to children under 12 years of age only on a doctor's prescription.
If the symptoms persist or if the expected success does not result from the application, medical advice is required as soon as possible.
Painkillers should not be used for a long time or in higher doses without medical advice.
Taking ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relief Tablets with others Medicines
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.
ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets may interfere with or be affected by other medicines. For example:
- The simultaneous use of ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets and digoxin (heart-strengthening medicine), phenytoin (medicine to treat seizures) or lithium (medicine to treat depressive disorders) may increase the concentration of these medicines in the blood. Control of serum lithium levels is necessary. Checking serum digoxin and serum phenytoin levels is recommended .
- ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets may weaken the effect of diuretics and antihypertensives.
- ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets may weaken the effect of ACE inhibitors (medicines used to treat heart failure and high blood pressure). With simultaneous use, the risk for the occurrence of renal dysfunction may be increased.
- The simultaneous administration of ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets and potassium-saving dehydrating agents (certain diuretics) may lead to an increase in the potassium level in the blood.
- Taking ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets at the same time as other anti-inflammatory and painkilling medicines from the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory group or with glucocorticoids (adrenal cortical hormones) increases the risk of gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding.
- Medicines to prevent blood clots such as acetylsalicylic acid and certain medicines used to treat depressive disorders (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors/SSRIs) may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Drugs that have an anticoagulant effect (i.e. thin the blood/prevent blood clotting, e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, warfarin, ticlopidine) .
- Drugs that lower high blood pressure (ACE inhibitors such as captopril, beta blockers such as atenolol-containing drugs, angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as losartan) .
- The administration of ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relief Tablets within 24 hours before or after the administration of methotrexate (medicinal product for the suppression of cell proliferation and immune defence) may lead to an increased concentration of methotrexate and an increase in its undesirable effects.
- The risk of kidney-damaging effects from ciclosporin (a drug used to suppress the immune system) is increased by the simultaneous administration of certain anti-inflammatory painkillers. This effect cannot be ruled out for a combination of ciclosporin with ibuprofen either.
- Medicines containing probenecid or sulfinpyrazone (medicines used to treat gout) may delay the excretion of ibuprofen. This can lead to an accumulation of ibuprofen in the body with an increase in its undesirable effects.
- Anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen may increase the effect of anticoagulant medicines such as warfarin, phenprocoumon and heparin (see "Warnings and precautions").
- Clinical studies have shown interactions between anti-inflammatory painkillers and sulfonylureas (blood sugar-lowering drugs). Although interactions between ibuprofen and sulphonylureas have not yet been described, it is recommended to check blood glucose levels as a precaution when taking ibuprofen at the same time.
- Tacrolimus (medicinal product to prevent transplant rejection and to treat neurodermatitis): The risk of kidney damage is increased if both medicinal products are administered at the same time.
- Zidovudine (medicines against AIDS): There is evidence of an increased risk of bleeding into joints (haemarthrosis) and haematomas in HIV-positive haemophilia patients (haemophiliacs) who use zidovudine and ibuprofen at the same time.
- Chinolone antibiotics: There may be an increased risk of seizures.
Some other medicines may also interfere with, or be interfered with by, treatment with ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets. You should therefore always ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets with other medicines.
When using ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets, you should avoid drinking alcohol if possible, as side effects caused by the active substance, especially those affecting the gastrointestinal tract or the central nervous system, may be increased.
Pregnancy, lactation and reproductive capacity.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy
If pregnancy is detected during the use of ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets, the doctor should be informed. You must only use ibuprofen in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy after consulting your doctor. In the last third of pregnancy, ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets must not be used because of an increased risk of complications for mother and child.
Breastfeeding time
The active substance ibuprofen and its degradation products pass into breast milk only in small amounts. As adverse effects on the infant have not been reported so far, it will not usually be necessary to interrupt breast-feeding if ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets are used for a short time. However, if a prolonged intake of higher doses is prescribed, early weaning should be considered.
Procreative capacity
Like other medicines that inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets may make it harder for you to get pregnant. You should tell your doctor if you are planning to become pregnant or if you are having problems becoming pregnant. Driving ability and ability to operate machinery.
! Caution: This medicinal product may impair the ability to react and drive.
Since side effects such as tiredness and dizziness as well as visual disturbances may occur when using ratioDolor Ibuprofen 300 mg Pain Relieving Tablets in higher doses, in individual cases the ability to react may be altered and the ability to actively participate in road traffic and operate machinery may be impaired. This is especially true in combination with alcohol. They can then no longer react quickly and purposefully enough to unexpected and sudden events. Do not drive a car or other vehicles in this case! Do not operate any tools or machines! Do not work without a secure hold!
