What should you pay attention to before taking it?

What should you be aware of before taking Pilka Thyme Drops?

Pilka Thyme Drops must not be taken
if you are allergic to thyme, to other members of the Lamiaceae family (labiates, such as sage, lemon balm or peppermint) or to any of the other ingredients listed in section 6.

Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Pilka Thyme Drops.
If you experience shortness of breath, fever or purulent sputum, or if your symptoms get worse despite treatment, or if there is no improvement after one week, you must always consult a doctor.

Children
Because of the alcohol content and as there is insufficient data, use in children under 2 years of age is not recommended.

Take Pilka Thyme Drops with other medicines
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or do not intend to take/use any other medicines.

Take Pilka Thyme Drops with food and drink
Pilka Thyme Drops can be taken independently of meals. Interactions between Pilka Thyme Drops and food or drink have not been reported.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist
for advice before taking this medicine.

As there is insufficient data, the use of Pilka Thyme Drops is not recommended during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Driving and ability to operate machinery
No studies have been carried out on the effects on driving and ability to operate machinery.
Please note the alcohol content of approx. 33 vol.%.

Pilka Thyme Drops contain alcohol
This medicinal product contains approx. 33% alcohol by volume. This is up to 595 mg per single dose corresponding to 14.4 ml beer or 7.2 ml wine.
Thus, this medicine poses a health risk to patients suffering from alcoholism. The alcohol content should be taken into account in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in children and patients at increased risk due to liver disease or epilepsy.

Pilka Thyme Drops contain sodium
This medicinal product contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per dose i.e. it is almost "sodium-free".

How should the medicine be taken?

How to take Pilka Thyme Drops?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is:

Adults and youths from 12 years: 3 to 4 times daily 40 drops each

Children (4 - 11 years): 3 to 4 times daily 20 drops each


Children (2 - 4 years): 3 to 4 times daily 10 drops each.

Use in children under 2 years of age.
Due to the alcohol content and as there is insufficient data, use in children under 2 years of age is not recommended.

Type of application:
For ingestion.
Shake the vial well before use.
Pilka Thyme drops can be taken undiluted or diluted with a little water.
Hold the vial vertically when counting drops!

Duration of use:

If you have taken a larger amount of Pilka Thyme Drops than you shouldThere are no known cases of overdose.

If you forget to take Pilka Thyme Drops.
If you forget to take it once, you should take the next dose at the usual time.

Do not take double the amount if you have forgotten to take it before.

If you stop taking Pilka Thyme Drops.
In case of interruption or termination of the therapy with Pilka Thyme Drops, no particularities are to be observed.

Do not store above 25° C after first opening.

Keep this medicinal product out of the reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the container and the outer carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.

What Pilka Thyme Drops contain
- The active substance is: Liquid extract of thyme
1 g contains 972.2 mg liquid extract of thyme (Thymi extractum fluidum, DEV 1:2-2.5, extractant mixture of 1 part ammonia solution 10 % m/m, 20 parts glycerol 85 % m/m, 70 parts ethanol 90 % v/v, 109 parts purified water).

- The other ingredients are: Glycerol, povidone, saccharin sodium

1 g (= 1 ml) = approx. 20 drops
