Mucosolvan retard 75 mg - capsules are used together with plenty of fluids for the expectorant treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs.

Mucosolvan must not be taken,

• if you are allergic to ambroxol hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.

Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Mucosolvan,

• if you suffer from severe kidney or liver dysfunction, in which case other dosage forms of Mucosolvan with a lower active ingredient content are available.

In these cases, you may only take Mucosolvan 1x daily 75 mg - Retard capsules after consulting your doctor.
There have been reports of serious skin reactions in connection with the use of ambroxol hydrochloride. If you develop a rash (including damage to the mucous membranes in the mouth, throat, nose, eyes and genital area), please stop using
Mucosolvan 1x daily 75 mg - Retard capsules and seek medical advice immediately. Taking Mucosolvan with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicines.
No significant interactions are known.
In laboratory studies, the simultaneous administration of ambroxol hydrochloride, the active ingredient in Mucosolvan 1x daily 75 mg - Retard capsules and certain medicines for infections (the antibiotics amoxicillin, cefuroxime, doxycycline and erythromycin) leads to a higher antibiotic concentration in the bronchial mucus and sputum.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Taking Mucosolvan 1x daily 75 mg - Retard capsules during pregnancy, especially during the first 3 months, is not recommended. Ambroxol hydrochloride passes into breast milk in animal experiments. Taking
Mucosolvan 1x daily 75 mg - Retard capsules is therefore not recommended during breastfeeding. Driving and using machines
Based on data available after marketing, there is no evidence of an effect on driving and using machines. No studies on the effects on driving and using machines have been performed.

How should the medicine be taken?

How should Mucosolvan be taken?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
For oral use.
The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over take 1 retard capsule once a day.
Take the retard capsules with plenty of fluids in the form of tea, fruit juice or water. You can take the retard capsules independently of meals. The active ingredient ambroxol hydrochloride is released with a delay. You must therefore always swallow the retard capsules whole and unchewed.
Children
Mucosolvan 1x daily 75 mg - Retard capsules are not suitable for use in children under 12 years of age due to the high active ingredient content. Mucosolvan is available in more suitable dosage forms for these patients.
Patients with impaired renal function
If you have severe renal impairment, you must consult your doctor before taking it. In these cases, Mucosolvan is available in more suitable dosage forms. Duration of use
If your condition worsens or does not improve after 4 to 5 days, you should see a doctor.
Note
The expectorant effect of Mucosolvan 1x daily 75 mg - Retard capsules is supported by plenty of fluids.
If you have taken more Mucosolvan than you should
Based on reports of accidental overdose and/or incorrect use, the observed symptoms are consistent with the known side effects at the recommended dosage.
If you suspect an overdose of Mucosolvan 1x daily 75 mg - Retard capsules, a doctor should be consulted immediately.

If you forget to take Mucosolvan
Continue taking it at the next time. Do not take double the amount if you have forgotten to take the previous dose.

• The other ingredients are:
  Capsule contents: Crospovidone, carnauba wax, stearyl alcohol, magnesium stearate
  Capsule shell: Gelatin, purified water, dyes titanium dioxide (E171), yellow and red iron oxide (E172)
  Capsule inscription white: Shellac, titanium dioxide (E171)

How Mucosolvan looks like and contents of the pack
Oblong hard capsules with a red top and orange bottom, the top bears the white imprint "MUC 01".
Capsule contents: round, yellowish-white pellets with a small amount of powder.
