YEAR: 2017

Austria's most popular red wine variety finds ideal conditions on the Eichkogel. The wine captivates with juicy black cherry fruit, spiciness typical of the variety and a delicate smokiness. A Zweigelt like a picture book: powerful and rich in finesse with good extract sweetness in the finish, good length. Goes well with boiled beef and Italo food.
The KRUG winery is located in the Thermenregion, which is also known as the "Burgundy of Austria". The Krugs have been growing wine in Gumpoldskirchen since 1746. The winery comprises around 35 hectares of traditionally cultivated vineyards according to the guidelines of near-natural production. Gustav Krug continues the gentle handling of the grapes in the cellar with a lot of passion and heart and soul. When vinifying the wines, he uses a treasure trove that only a few wineries in the world can afford: wine from the best vintages.
The Krug winery mainly cultivates local grape varieties typical of the region, such as the Rotgipfler and Zierfandler, and creates powerful, multi-layered white and red wines with long ageing and storage potential.
The passion of winemaker Gustav Krug: "Committed to tradition. Dedicated to innovation. Many times excellent wines."
