Prospan is purely herbal, well tolerated, suitable for all ages and available in various forms of application. The Prospan cough liquids are ideal for travelling. Whether handbag, backpack or laptop bag - the practical single juice portions have room everywhere. They are heat resistant and no spoon or water is needed. They have a fresh menthol flavour and are without sugar or alcohol. Suitable for children from 6 years.

How is it applied?
What is prospan cough liquid and what is it used for?
Prospan Cough Liquid is a herbal medicinal product for loosening mucus in coughs associated with colds.
Prospan Cough Liquid makes it easier to cough up, relaxes the bronchial muscles and thus calms the cough.
If you do not feel better or even worse after 1 week, consult your doctor.

Ingredients
5ml liquid (1 sachet) contains 35mg dry extract of ivy leaves Extracting agent: ethanol 30% (m/m). Contains potassium sorbate (preservative). 5ml contains 1.926g sorbitol (sugar substitute) =0.16BE.

What SHOULD YOU NOTE BEFORE TAKING PROSPAN Cough Liquid?
Prospan Cough Liquid must not be taken
if you are allergic to dry ivy leaf extract or to other plants from the Aralia family (e.g. ginseng) or to a section 6.
Prospan Cough Liquid must not be used in patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with pronounced hypersensitivity of the respiratory tract because of the menthol content. Inhalation of Prospan Cough Liquid can lead to bronchoconstriction.

Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Prospan Cough Liquid.
If shortness of breath, fever or purulent sputum occurs, a doctor must be consulted.
The concomitant use of this medicine with medicines that suppress cough (antitussives such as codeine or dextromethorphan) without medical advice is not recommended.
Caution is recommended in patients with gastritis or stomach ulcers.
Children
Prospan Cough Liquid is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
Taking Prospan Cough Liquid with other medicines
No interaction studies have been carried out.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or intend to take/use any other medicinal products.
Take Prospan Cough Liquid with food and drinks

5 ml of liquid contains 1.926 g of sorbitol (sugar substitute), which corresponds to 0.16 BE (bread units).
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you suspect you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Since there are insufficient data, use during pregnancy and breast-feeding cannot be recommended.
Trafficability and ability to operate machinery
No studies have been conducted on the effects on trafficability and ability to operate machinery.
Prospan Cough Liquid contains sorbitol
Prospan Cough Liquid contains 1.9 g of sorbitol per 5 ml of liquid as a 70% sorbitol solution. Please only take Prospan Cough Liquid after consulting your doctor if you are known to suffer from a sugar intolerance.
How should the medicine be taken?

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents 12 years and over: 5 ml of liquid 3 times a day
Children 6 to 11 years: 2 times daily 5 ml liquid
Measure 5 ml with the measuring cup or take 1 sachet
Prospan Cough Liquid is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
Type of use:
For ingestion.
Prospan Cough Liquid from the bottle:
For ingestion with enclosed measuring cup.
Shake the bottle before each use!
Prospan cough liquid from the sachet:
For taking from the sachet .
The liquid should be taken undiluted in the morning, (at noon) and in the evening.
For Prospan Cough Liquid from the sachet, a packaging has been chosen that can be torn open effortlessly and the contents can be taken comfortably. The exact handling can be seen in the drawing.

Duration of use:
If the symptoms worsen or there is no improvement after one week, a doctor must be consulted.
If you have used a larger amount of Prospan Cough Liquid than you should
In case of overdose, irritation of the digestive tract and possibly vomiting may occur. The symptoms are reversible when the preparation is stopped.
If you forget to take Prospan Cough Liquid
Do not take twice the amount if you have forgotten to take it before. Continue to take the medicine as prescribed by your doctor or as described in the leaflet.

Prospan Cough Liquid in a bottle:
No special storage conditions are required for this unopened medicinal product.
Do not store above 25°C after first opening.
Prospan Cough Liquid in a sachet:
No special storage conditions are required for this medicine.
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
You must not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the outer carton and container after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated.
Prospan Cough Liquid in a bottle:
Store and use for only 6 months after first opening.

- The other ingredients are: Potassium sorbate, anhydrous citric acid, xanthan gum, sorbitol solution 70% (E 420, crystallising), flavourings, levomenthol, purified water.
What Prospan Cough Liquid looks like and contents of the pack
Prospan Cough Liquid is a light brown, slightly cloudy liquid for oral use with a fruity taste.It is available in packs of 21 sachets containing 5 ml of liquid each and in amber glass bottles containing 100 ml and 200 ml of liquid (with enclosed measuring cup marked 2.5 ml, 5 ml, 7.5 ml and 10 ml).
