Artichoke

The tastiest of all appetizers? Artichokes, of course! 

The artichoke is a thistle-like plant whose flowers are eaten and which is also a beautiful ornamental plant in the garden. It is perennial and can produce its flower buds for up to five years, although in the first year usually only a rosette of leaves is formed. 

Artichokes can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. It is important to have a long stem, which serves as a moisture dispenser for the flower. Wrap the bud in a damp cloth and put it in a plastic bag. Check the buds regularly. As soon as the petals turn brown and start to dry out, the bud should be processed.

You can also freeze the artichoke bottoms. They will then keep for 6-9 months.
